Canadian Points of View is an interface intended for public, academic, and high school libraries. Points of View is designed to assist researchers in understanding the full scope of controversial subjects. High school and undergraduate students can use Points of View as a guide to debate, developing arguments, writing position papers, and for development of critical thinking skills. Each Points of View Essay includes a series of questions and additional material to generate further thought. Also included are thousands of supporting articles from the world’s top political and societal publications.

Canadian Reference Centre combines Canadian magazines, newspapers, newswires and reference books to create the largest collection of regional full text content available to Canadian libraries. This database includes leading Canadian periodicals and international (U.S. and U.K) periodicals in full text; full text reference books; over 87,900 full text biographies and an Image Collection of over 502,000 photos, maps, and flags. This database is updated on a daily basis.

Career Cruising is a fully bilingual database which has been designed to help students and others plan their future. With exceptional assessment tools, detailed occupation profiles, and comprehensive post-secondary education information, users move seamlessly through the career explorations and planning process. Users are able to access hundreds of detailed occupation profiles - everything from Actuary to ZooKeeper. Profiles include: job descriptions, working conditions, education and training, earnings, and links to related occupations and other resources. It provides a national database of post-secondary schools which includes detailed information on colleges, universities and other training opportunities.

Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports - Consumers Union (CU) is an expert, independent, nonprofit organization whose mission is to work for a fair, just, and safe marketplace for all consumers and to empower consumers to protect themselves. The organization was founded in 1936 when advertising first flooded the mass media. Consumers lacked a reliable source of information they could depend on to help them distinguish hype from fact and good products from bad ones. Since then CU has filled that vacuum with a broad range of consumer information. To maintain its independence and impartiality, CU accepts no outside advertising and no free samples and employs several hundred mystery shoppers and technical experts to buy and test the products it evaluates.
