Party of the YEAR!

MPL can’t thank our community enough for the amazing support we got for the 2019 MPL Block Party last Friday. We saw over 1000 people join us to participate in all of the fun! HUGE thanks to all of the groups who came to participate by offering amazing activities for everyone to enjoy!

We’d also like to extend a very special thank you to the Town of Midland for all of their support in preparing for this event, as well as to the Midland Fire Department and the OPP.

We are already starting the planning for next year! See you in 2020!

Library Lip Sync Challenge

As you all know, MPL has been closed since September 1st for renovations to both our 1st and 2nd floors. We’ve really missed interacting with our patrons and seeing them every day. We’ve been working hard at doing outreach, programming off site and lots of other projects like inventory during all of the construction. To celebrate Ontario Public Library Week we were really hoping to be open again, however construction is sometimes unpredictable. So, we wanted to find a fun way to celebrate even though we’re not open. We decided we wanted to issue a Library Lip Sync Challenge  to all our fellow libraries – in Ontario, in Canada and beyond!

Stay tuned for details on our reopening – until then – we hope you enjoy our #librarylipsyncchallenge

The Return of Books2Eat

Sunday, April 2nd marked the return of Midland’s most delicious event, Books2Eat.  After a 1 year hiatus the return of this much anticipated event proved to be well worth the wait! With a dozen amazing book based edible displays and just over 200 people in attendance the library was buzzing with excitement. The event’s creator Nicole Di Pinto was key to the return of this event, and we couldn’t be more thankful for her dedication, energy and inspiration.

Stay tuned for another post with all of the photobooth images taken by the wonderful, Rob Doda.

Preparations are already under way for next year’s event. Mark your calendar for March 25th, 2018!

Congratulations to this year’s winner: POP HEART
